Good news!!! After a rather long wait we are finally moving into a room based at the Docklands campus in East London. Once the room is cleared we'll be able to set up our kit and get the students started on some pilot projects for next semester.
This blog will chart our progress from decorating (next week) through to the set up and beyond.
The emotionUXD (User Experience Design) lab is the result of a successful bid for funds to research user experiences and usage from the perspective of emotions, affects and feelings. Our intention is to combine affordable new technologies (eye trackers, eeg and observation software) with conceptual testing and prototyping to develop new UX methods.
Alongside other less ambitious projects the lab will investigate the relation established between a user’s attention and their emotions. It will also approach UXD from the idea that feelings might have thoughts of their own (Zajonc). The project sets out to test assumptions made in emotional design literature (Norman, 2004). The lab work will be applied to at range of user experiences from interactions with political websites to more mundane everyday media usage.
